Building the bench
TheHot MessLine
US.
Not every hard moment is a crisis.
Sometimes life is just messy.
You go on in an hour and you can’t eat. The message you owe somebody has been open on your screen since Tuesday. You’ve typed the first line and deleted it enough times to know it by heart. Your brain has gone somewhere and left your body to deal with the room.
Or it’s smaller than that. You’ve reorganized the same drawer twice today. You’re pricing apartments in a city you’ve never been to.
You don’t need to have it figured out before you call. Not knowing what to say is a fine reason to call.
A person picks up. You say what’s happening, or you don’t yet, and that’s fine too. Just because you’re a hot mess doesn’t mean you have to be a hot mess alone.
The Hot Mess Line opens when the bench is ready. Before the first Hot Mess call, we are building the Spotter bench, orientation, handoff resources, routing, insurance, and enough founding support to cover the opening infrastructure.
Want to help us get the line running? We’d love to hear from future Spotters, partners, sponsors, and people who want to help build the bench. Call or text Circus Folk: 602-935-PLAY.
Why this exists
Culture dies in a vacuum. And let’s be honest: putting yourself out there is scary. Making something new is scary. Sometimes you bomb. Sometimes you freeze. Sometimes keeping it real goes wrong.
It doesn’t always happen in some big dramatic moment. Sometimes it’s a kitchen. A green room. A parked car. Nobody there.
- A therapist is next Tuesday at four.
- Your people are asleep, on stage, or the last people you want to tell.
- And this isn’t a crisis. It just sucks right now.
That weird ten minutes in between? That’s what we’re building this for.
Sometimes you just need somebody to answer the damn phone.
Hear when it opens
One message when we open. Leave a number and we’ll text you too. That’s it unless you ask for more.
